The trouble with anagrams is you're stuck with the same letters.

Yes, but only if they are used exclusively.

I liked Scotty's last idea, but I think it could possibly also be too restrictive.

Sorry stripey, I don't get this bit.

Isn't an anagram re-arranging the letters of one word in order to form another, different, word.

How can they not be used exclusively?

(Sorry, it's late...)

I meant by that if anagrams were employed as the exclusive way of providing a new word in this game. When I suggested them a little while ago, I was putting forward the use of anagrams as an alternative, particularly if the game had got stuck.

But one of the points of this game is for players to corner each other so that someone comes up with a word so other players do get stuck.

I think we can use word association with the same original rules, but if it becomes too difficult then we can still use the original rules to keep things flowing because eventually we will end up getting stuck anyway, and then someone starts with a new word like it has been from the start, you know what I mean?

If thats all to much for everyone, just go back to the original rules as people were doing a good job anyway of cornering other players.

I never realised that, perhaps because it wasn't stated at the start. My aim has been partly to include unusual words, but also to play as far as possible in such a way that it was possible to continue. OK, the gloves are off!
