How do Transfers work?

How do Transfers work?

One of the most exciting and interactive parts of the game is getting involved with Transfers. To help you, this section of Help is presented in Question and Answer form.

FAQs about Transfers

How Do I Sell Players?

Using the menu across the top of the page, go to Squad Manager.
Next, select the player you wish to sell by clicking on the player's name followed by Transfer, below the menu tabs (almost directly below Training.

When selling players, all transfer listings will last for five days. As manager, you set the minimum price that you will accept for the listed player. You are also able to request a sell-on percentage fee, and the minimum manager transfer rating you will allow for bids to be made. Every time you place a player upon the transfer list, you will be charged a fee of 1% of the asking price. It's up to you to keep track of transfer charges.

Managers who bid for your players have to accept the sell-on fee that you have included: this only becomes payable when the player is sold on to another team by the manager who bought him.

If you specify a minimum transfer rating for managers bidding for your player, then only those who have achieved that level will be able to offer to buy him. See below for more information about Transfer Ratings.

Once you list a player on the market it is not possible to then withdraw that player. If no bids are received or buying managers decide to withdraw from the purchase then the player will remain in your squad and can be listed for sale again.

Please note: A player with less than 8 days on his contract who is put up for sale is likely to leave the game before a transfer can be completed. Please ensure that any players placed on the market have sufficient time remaining on their contract in order to complete a sale.

How Many Players Can I Buy/Sell?

You are allowed to place a maximum of two players on the Transfer List at any time.
In some instances, you will discover your Board will not allow you to sell players. This might be because your squad is small, or because you have not been at your Club for the minimum period of seven days.

You may purchase any number of players, as long as your funds permit this, and also provided your Squad has not exceeded the maximum allowed by your Board. Check the Club Menu>Board page, for further information.

You will not see your own players displayed on the Transfer List.

How do I monitor the sales of my players?

Once you have placed you player on the transfer list, you can monitor the offers made via the Transfer menu > Bids & Negotiations > Selling Players tab.
The only control you have is to reject the offers you don't want. This will only be possible if the bidding manager has a transfer rating of less than 1, however. The rest of the process will proceed with the Clubs involved and your Board will inform you about progress. Sit back and hope you get the best offer possible.

How does the Transfer Rating change?

Managers who are successful in selling or buying players will see their Transfer Rating gradually increase as they use the Transfer system. Not every sale or purchase will see an increase, but every transaction will affect the calculated rating.

Managers who withdraw their bids or otherwise act negatively within the Transfer system will find their Transfer Rating decrease. Be warned, and be very sure about your actions in the Transfer Market. Once you have placed a player on the Transfer List you cannot remove him therefrom.

The Transfer Rating basically judges your reputation on the Transfer Market, similar to ratings found on auction sites.

How do I buy players

There are essentially two ways of finding new players for your Club. One is to send out your Scouts with instructions for what you are looking for. The other is to look for yourself at the Transfer Market. It is important to understand here that your Scouts can explore all Leagues, whereas you can only view two on any given day. Balancing this, though, is the fact that your searches will get instant results, but your Scouts won't report back to you for several days. Managers can also make their own enquiries via the Forums or by sending PMs to other managers.

The Transfer List displays the players available, and the time remaining in the potential auction for each player. You can bid on players after you view them, using the options available. If the Manager selling a player is asking for a Sell-on Fee as part of the deal, then your bid must match this exactly.

Funding must be in place for your bid. When you open bidding, you must have sufficient funds to cover both the bid and the projected Sell-on fee. Thereafter, during the entire bidding and negotiation process for a player, you must maintain sufficient funds for the bid.

Bids are made by blind tender and you may or may not be the only bidder. The highest bid is the amount offered plus sell-on percentage, but this does not necessarily mean the player will always transfer to the highest winning bid, as a process of contract negotiation follows the bidding. Be prepared!

When does bidding close?

Bidding for a player closes at 20:00 on the final day of listing. After this, no new bids can be made, and the message Offers closed will appear. Once bidding has closed, no bids will be displayed until after the update. Remember, the IAG day is from 20:00 of any day until 20:00 the following day. Please see here for further explanation.

How do negotiations work?

Negotiations last for two days. Updates on these are sent to you twice each day.

Once negotiations have begun the following day, the top three bids will be displayed. The managers who have made those bids are invited to offer a contract in order to attempt to sign the player. Usually the highest bidder will see the player join their team, but another team can still win the auction if the player is not impressed with the contract he has been offered.

The next minor update will give some indication of how the player feels about your offer, but he won't decide anything until the next major update. Even then, if you are the only bidder, he may decide he has the upper hand and ask for more wages. Do you call his bluff?

Please note, if you are the sole or the highest bidder: failure to negotiate a successful wage with the player within the two-day period can result in your Board deciding to accept the player, at the player's agreed terms if no one else manages it either. This can also have a negative effect on your transfer rating even though you bought the player. Do not enter negotiations lightly. It might be better to pull out of the transfer if you feel you cannot reasonably meet his demands. This will result in a Transfer Rating penalty, but could save you from signing a player with high wage demands. It is at your peril to enter negotiations without being aware of the consequences.

Am I allowed to swap players with another manager?

This is not permitted. Once a transfer deal has been agreed between two managers, with a player bought and sold, a further such deal may not take place until a further 56 days have elapsed.

What do my transfer messages mean?

  • We have had to pull out of the purchase of A. Striker, as we were no longer able to fund this purchase.
This will often be because you are involved with other negotiations, which, when combined with a possible successful transfer market success, would bring your funds below the permitted level. It could also be a result of normal expenditure if you entered bidding with just the minimum funding available.

  • Your new bid must be higher than the previous bid.

It is not possible to reduce a bid once it has already been placed.

    Other transfer problems

  • The Make Bid button or the Make Offer button is not visible.

This can happen when the scout who found the player leaves the club before negotiations have been completed.

Reasons for a sale not completing

The most common reason, of course is that the player has joined another Club.

    ..................................................................................................................................................

The game is designed so that if you withdraw a bid on a player you will no longer be able to bid on that player again. If you attempt to bid again on such a player, you will receive a message telling you that your bid is not accepted.

    ..................................................................................................................................................

Bids can fail for other reasons, such as the expiry of players' contracts, or a Board decision from the selling Club to withdraw the player from sale, usually from reasons to do with squad size.
