Competitions

There's no doubt that the Division title within your League is the one to go for over the course of a season, or, failing that, promotion in a second or third spot. Prize money is awarded at the end of the Season - the amount is related to your finishing position in your Division, to the level of your Division within your League, and the relative strength of your League.

But there are more competitions to enter - some serious, some semi-serious and some just for fun (though a good few managers would say even these 'fun' ones can be taken seriously as well.

Competitions home

This tab gives you a summary of the League Cup, Inter Cup and IAG Super Cup competitions, in which every team takes part. The progress status of each Cup, its round, the number of teams entered (for the League Cup this is always 100, for the Inter Cup and the IAG Super Cup this depends on how many teams are registered), the number of teams left in each competition and the number of byes in the round being played.

For details about match times, please click here.

Fixtures in the League Cup (held in the first half of each season) are played on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Each round of the Cup is drawn randomly with matches being played at the home team's ground except for the semi-finals and final which are played at neutral venues. The ticket price for neutral venue matches is set by the manager of the first named team.

There will be a number of byes, for higher ranked teams, for Round 1 in order to have the correct number of teams playing in Round 2.

On the fixtures tab you can see:
  • The results of any previous round played using the filter facility.
  • The upcoming fixtures for the next round once the draw for that round has been made - on the Thursday following Wednesday's matches and on the Sunday following Saturday's matches.

    Reserve matches

Reserve matches will affect your squad in exactly the same way as a normal match will with respect to injuries, fatigue, match fitness, and experience. They will not affect a players disciplinary record in terms of accumulating yellow or red cards.

However, because of the friendly nature of reserve games, it is common courtesy to set your aggression to 1, and closing down to 'no' in your tactics for reserve games. This helps minimise the chances of injuries to players on either team.

Reserve games are only available on Wednesdays and Saturdays, except during the off season when they can be played on every day. i.e. days 54 to 56.

    Home

This section gives information on confirmed reserve matches - the date the match is to be played, your opponents and whether the match is at home or away. There is the ability to cancel a particular match, but as a courtesy this should only be done if an error has been made in the original scheduling.

Also in the Home section are details of any pending reserve matches. These are matches waiting to be confirmed either by your opponents (if you sent the invite) or by you (if your opponents sent the invite). Press the 'Confirm' button and the match will then display in the Confirmed Reserve Matches list.

    Schedule Reserve Match

To arrange a Reserve Match enter the name of the club you want to invite (you have to be precise here), the date you want the match to be played and whether it is to be played at home or away.

Once the details have been completed, hit the 'Send Invite' button. You are able to arrange a maximum of 4 reserve matches in advance.

Once an invitation for a reserve match has been sent, a PM will arrive in the other manager's inbox in Itsagoal. In addition, an email will be sent to the other manager's registered email address.

    Friendlies

This feature allows Subscribers to organise a friendly match against any other subscribed manager. Kick off time is at the 5pm update and can be played on all days of the week. Friendlies also cannot be played on the final three days of the season as these are put aside for Reserve Matches.

Friendlies do not affect players in terms of injuries, fatigue, match fitness, discipline or experience. This means that the status of your players will remain the same as before the friendly, irrespective of what happens during the game.
