Dunno. They are there after my phone has been asleep - at the top there - and before I put my passcode in. They disappear when it starts up again so I've no idea where they come from.
Have you tried going to 'notifications' and switching them off?

Hmm.. where might I find that?

The only 'notifications' I can find is under 'sounds and notifications' which only seems to let me adjust volume.

The teenager says....

Click settings

Then notifications

Then there should be a switch that says all apps that you should be able to turn on or off.

If you wish there are switches for individual apps if you wish to isolate it.

This just cost me a bourbon so it's your round in the pub

Edit: He also says why do you care, it's only Hull

I can click settings alright.

But then I come to a full stop as I don't have anything that says 'notifications'. Only sounds and notifications which looks like it's just a volume control thingy.

Is 'notifications' hidden behind something else???

Pulled half the place apart - then realised I gave it to my nephew.
Ok, try this.

From home screen....

1. Click on apps icon.
2. Settings.
3.Scrol to 'device'>tap 'applications'>'app manager'
4. Swipe right to 'downloaded'
5 Tap the unwanted app, tap to uninstall, then tap again.

I've got up to number 4.

How do I know which app is giving me these football scores?

Now I do need a drink!

I guess you'll need to go through the process of elimination. (starting with the least important)

If I only had my hands on that phone...

Strides are being made nonetheless.

It's probably going to be one of the most recent downloads. (if it gives you that information)

Just went into that and there was a little box 'Show notifications' that was ticked.

Could be that causing it. So I've unticked it. Rather than removing the app entirely...

Let's see if the scores stop appearing.
