Successive Demotions
What I have seen in team history logs is they get promoted all the way to the premier division, go all the way down and back up again, this got me confused and id like to know why people do this and what it actually achieves?

Because of the way club rating works, it only takes your last several seasons into account. So people relegate themselves down to the 5th tier, then get 4 successive promotions, winning every league match for those 4 seasons, and by the end of those seasons their club rating has a massive boost from all the easy wins.
It's a really scummy way of achieving "success" in my opinion, and it only works if you a) are prepared by the time you get back to the top tier or b) you hit your rating objective before getting back.
It's also why people will deliberately hang around in 4th place in the 2nd tier- you get enough wins to boost your rating without ever having to face the difficult top-tier opponents.

Oh? Some kind of cheat / backdoor in the system?

There is also a wage clause that can be used in this strategy too. Tried it once but decided to start with a new Div 5 team.
Not saying anything is right or wrong (as long as its within the rules), but as long as we have people playing (as our Manager count is low), to each their own IMO

Certainly not cheating, otherwise ratings wouldn't work that way. Playing the game on easy mode, though, I'd say.
