player contract due
Can someone help me please? Something really weird is going on, I have a player (who just got out oif the academy) with on;y one day left on his contract. I never got a review contract due message for him though. And now if I wan to negiotate I need to have permission first...
Seems like the player is gonna walk today without anything I can do about it...

Well first of all, he hasn't " only just " come out of the academy, he's been in your senior squad for 20 days and improved by around 7 points, so you've had plenty of time to negotiate with him before now. I always negotiate with a youth the same day they promote to get them on a long-term deals while their rating (and therefore wage demands) are low...

That being said, you can generally negotiate with a player regardless of whether you've asked to or not when there's fewer than 5 days on their current contract. Are you absolutely sure there's no way to get an offer in?

If not, then yes, I'm afraid you're going to lose him, sadly.

Usually I do negotiate earlier with the just out of Academy players, but sometimes I just let the timer run out. I dont really like the negotiations process and I am not that active lately.

Nevertheless I think I should have gotten a notice 5 days before contracts end. I think I might know why I might not have gotten it. I did ask earlier for permission to negotiate with him and other players, but didnt follow through with it.
Maybe that caused the system to think I was already in the negotiations process. The annoying thing though is that it has disappeared from my manager tab. And unlike when you would get a review reminder, I cant start negotiations of the bat now.

I know it was a close call anyway, but with one day left I feel I should have had the option of giving the player at least an amazing deal last minute. That has always been the case. If this is not a bug, at least its something that needs big improving on imo. Also I think you should have the option of negotiating with players even if they are out of contract, instead of them disappearing from the game. That has always bugged me.

Stuff like this really makes me want to quit the game, which I probably will soon. Wasnt that active anyway, but now it feels the game is even stealing a very good youth player from me

When he was promoted you got notice then that he had 21 days on his contract and you should have negotiated.

I don't htink you can blame the game for something you've forgotten to do.

1. He's only got FAs in the 70s. You could probably get 8-10M for him, maximum. If he was FA 90s then I'd understand.
2. I don't think it's the game's fault that you choose a) not to be active and b) not negotiate when you have the chance to.

It'll be a shame if you leave the game over this, but it sounds like you are on the cusp of it anyway. so...

What I have an issue with is the game not allowing me even to make an offer, even though I still have a day left to negotiate. And the game not sending a contract review due 5 days before the contract ended, like it always does. Why should I even have to ask for permission for this in the first place?

1. Well I consider that pretty good, 8-10M walking out of the door for free now. Why? Because of me not being able to offer a contract on the last day, which makes no sense to me
2. Well it is the games fault for not sending me a contract reminder like it always does. Never has it happened to me before that I wasnt notified 5 days in advance. Sure I could have acted faster, but that doesnt take away from the fact that I didnt get the regular headsup

I was thinking about quitting for a while anyway, but this definitely made it very unappealing to stay. Missing a contract negotiation was already being punished harshly by making it unable to contact the player anymore, but now I even lost a player I at least should have been able to negotiate with still

it would be a shame to see you go, you are doing well with your team, and you get good results. it's a bit of a kick to lose a youth but not the end of the world, your team will recover.

Is the player you are referring to Ferrer?

If it is, you should know that you can't negotiate a player's contract while he's on the transfer market.
