How many youths can you promote per season?

Mainly out of necessity but also a bit of curiousness and pre-planning, I've successfully promoted 5 out of 5 this season,, all were in the academy for around 3 seasons

I've got another 88 rated striker about to turn 18 so it could be 6 out of 6 if his birthday is before the end of the season??

An interesting question.

Assuming that you start the season with 12 youths in your academy that are all turning 18 (or over 16 and reaching the end of their current contracts), you could in theory promote all 12 on Day 1.

You could time it so that all your scouts return results on youths aged 15-17 the following day and recruit another 12 instantly. You'd need at least 6 (and probably more to be safe) scouts to do this.

You then have to wait until they have fewer than 21 days left on their contract to promote them, which will be around Day 37.

(You could then recruit 12 more youths, but they won't reach the last 21 days of their contract until the following season, so you wouldn't be able to promote these.)

You would also need to have 16 players in your squad at the start of the season, sell exactly 2 players every 7 days, and have a maximum squad size of more than 28, in order for the youths to all be promotable by the end of the season.

You would also need to get incredibly lucky with your second batch of youths all accepting after the minimum possible time in the academy.

Making all these assumptions, the answer to your question is 24.

In fact, it is theoretically possible to have more than 24 if your second batch of youth recruits are all 17 year olds and some of them turn 18 and promote automatically, allowing you to recruit more youths again.

You would still be limited by the maximum squad size and the requirement to sell 2 players every 7 days (one minimum length transfer cycle). Start the season with 15 players (getting board warnings about being sacked) and have a maximum squad size of 33 (which I believe is the maximum possible, but you'd need to have a club rating over 7501), selling 2 players every 7 days, and recruiting 17 year olds that instantly turn 18 and all successfully promote... you could in theory promote up to 34 youths in one season.

The chances of this happening successfully are so astronomically small that I think it's next to impossible.

Ooh, sorry about this guys...

Stretching the theory even more, I suppose you could also instantly terminate the currents of every youth you promote so you're not limited by squad size either.

In that case, you are limited only by your bank balance (and some clubs have hundreds of millions of credits) and the number of youths you can successfully scout.

If you had 1 youth coach and 15 scouts, and each scout returned 3 youths on each report, and every one of those youths were aged 17 years and 55 days when they were scouted, then you could in theory promote 12 youths every day of the season, for a total of 672 youths.

We are now stretching the realms of probability into the region of infinitely improbable, though.

I think it's 21 days into the contract, isn't it? Rather than 21 days remaining, so that means you have an extra two weeks of recruiting.

Not sure why I'm bothering to correct that but .....well, just in case someone tries it.

You're probably right. I remember the 21 days thing... I couldn't remember if it was days gone or days remaining of their contract. Maybe it would be 36 then.

Either way, I still think you'd be limited by squad size unless you're terminating contracts.
