Sackings
It?s my first season and I?m struggling to meet the board objectives with my current squad, if I don?t complete them all, will I be sacked? If not, what conditions have to be met to be sacked?

As far as I know, the only way to be sacked is to not log in for an extended period of time (21 days?). Board satisfaction will invariably go to zero whatever you do and it has no effect whatsoever (that I know of).

Don't sweat it

The board is probably one of the easiest things that could be fixed to give realistic aims, but isn't because there are other priorities. You won't get sacked. Just ignore the board.

Fixing the board objectives would be a simple as changing a few parameters, hopefully. Have one set of targets for divisions 2-5 where it's easier to improve, and another set of targets for the top tier. You wouldn't need to change much about the current targets for divisions 2-5 (although the club rating objectives are pretty steep even at this level).

For the top tier targets, allowances should be made for the fact that it's incredibly difficult to keep moving forward at a rapid pace. Cut the club rating target to +100 points instead of +1000, staff rating requirements should really be got rid of altogether, average player rating should go to +2 instead of +10, minimum wins required should go to +1, maximum defeats to -1, minimum points to +4 or +5, league position should go to -1, and cup rounds can remain the same. It would still be extremely difficult to hit all these targets unless your club is moving forwards as the board expects, but at least it wouldn't be impossible.

It feels like the board expectations were set for the first few seasons of the game with the intention of being updated later and never were.

Oh okay then, so by all these replies I?m assuming I shouldn?t really worry too much?

Maybe, but what would the effect be of consistently not meeting board expectations? The sack seems a bit much for a game which is as we know pretty far from realism when it comes to football management. You know as well as anyone that improving a club sustainably takes many seasons and for a lot of that time you're not seeing much impact on the pitch. My APR has dropped by four points over the last season or so because I've promoted a load of youths that will make my team much better... in three or four seasons. I'm 200 ratings points down on where I was because of that and a couple of other things (like having really nasty away cup draws!). I'd be really annoyed if I got the sack for that.

Maybe it could affect club rating? But then it would have to be really well calibrated to be fair.

Or just for flavour?

Of course you wouldn't ever get sacked for not meeting board expectations. More than 50% of Premiership-level clubs would not be meeting these targets, by definition. Not every club can be improving. Board rating doesn't have to suddenly mean something- I was just suggesting some very small but meaningful changes that could be (hopefully) coded quickly without introducing any bugs, if Ron wanted to make the board actually mean something.

If there was time (and inclination) to introduce an incentive for having a board rating above 50% or a penalty for having one below 50%, I'd suggest that it modifies your available funds vs your bank balance. At the moment, you can spend all but the last 500k of your bank balance, right? Well, if the board trusts you completely, maybe you can spend all of it. If they don't, maybe they keep back more of your bank balance "in case of unforeseen circumstances due to poor management" or something similar. Nothing crippling, maybe the 500k is increased to 2M if you have a board rating of zero even after the changes I suggested.

It should be entirely possible for most competently managed clubs to have a board rating of over 50%. The fact that literally everyone is at 0% makes a mockery of it, and makes it completely ignored by anyone that isn't new, which is a shame.

Alright, well I can get behind something like that. See you in 2040 when it's implemented

Must have had a Board rating of a negative percentage number.

And gaining champions league football and the hundreds of millions that comes with that

Now we will be spending about 20million of that getting a new manager and I'm certain the recruitment for next season will be guaranteed to get a few overpriced shjtbags in like usual

My 2nd team got sacked and I was logging in regularly I think. I never really got how/why I was sacked but it happened!
