Duplicate Player in Squad
About a week ago, I had a youth player scouted turn 18 years old, and he automatically joined the squad without going through the youth academy.

Fast forward to today, and I noticed he was still in my youth reports, so out of curiosity, and possibly stupidity, I promoted him to my youth academy, to see what would happen.

Long behold, after the update at 8pm, I now have 2 Martin Napers in my senior squad, with the same overall rating and attributes, same squad number and same contract length. I can even list both Napers in the starting eleven for my league cup game tomorrow.

Now my issue is that the original Naper is set to be sold, after being listed 6 days ago, and I am intrigued to see what happens. Will both play tomorrow, or will another forward automatically be placed into the starting XI, and will both Napers be sold to the buying club, or will it just be one; and if this is to happen, will the other cease to exist or remain in my reserves as permanent mascot boy?

I have so many questions and I may break the game tomorrow. Just wondering whether this has happened to anyone else before?

I think its a visual bug as they have the same string number. Ill let you know...

Are both copies marked in their contract negotiation page as on the transfer list? Or can you negotiate a contract with one of them but not the other?

As bluelightning said, they have the same player ID so it is probably a display bug.

The original bug though is that he stayed in your youth reports after promoting..

I wonder what would happen if you trained one on, let's say, Defensive overloading and the other on Attacking overloading would they train up twice as quickly?

Will the buyer get two players ? And will you get double the money?

Yeah the more i have looked into this, it looks more and more like a visual bug. Both players in squad manager are transfer listed, and I can only give them one training drill.

What I have also noticed is that although both can appear on the same team sheet, one does not, and I assume will not, play the game, as one of them is unable to be selected to take set pieces or be subbed off. There also seems to be a missing player within the preview, also acting as if one of them is not actually there.

Im still interested to see what happens with the transfer, and whether both end up leaving, or if one will go and the other ceases to exist. Ill update this evening.

Well the game is live and the duplicate Naper has been replaced by my best forward, but then the bench has 4/5 players that I didnt select. Is this normal?

You mean the subs bench was different from who you picked? Given he was your penultimate (and last ) player I imagine the code got to the duplicate player, broke in some way and left the eleventh player and subs bench empty. Then the assistant manager took over. Be thankful he wasn't a defender

Something similar happens with training schedules - if the whole team doesn't load and you change some schedules of the ones who do then the players who weren't loaded are reset to the default training match.

Yeah the subs bench had only 1 player on it that I actually picked, and it was a player that I planned to completely rest who started in the supposed blank spot. Luckily in the cups I don?t use subs, unless things go wayward, although the overall quality the AM picked was much better than what I wanted. Maybe I should give him a pay rise!

Cant say I was too familiar with the process with training either. Every day is a school day.

Update:

Sale has gone through and I do not have either Martin Napers. My worry is that when I check his new team, he is not present on the squad list.

That's concerning. Is it Sparta Ness? How much did he go for?

Can confirm. Transfer went through. Received the PM saying he was here but is NOT listed in the Squad manager, nor listed under the Training and is not showing in the Team Selection page.

However on the Transfers page, he is showing as completed his 250,000 transfer to me and has Sparta Ness listed as his club.

Only posting this as the only record of his existence is on the Transfers page which we will lose when the next 5 transfers for Scotland are completed.

I have also received the funds of 250,000, further confirming everything has gone ahead with the transfer.

Seems like he might already be on a sabbatical!

Not looking good for him, think you've been fortunate to lose only 250k.

His statstics do not seem to be holding any values either.

Atleast he doesnt contribute to the squad size cap so theres something.
