I've promoted 4 midfielders that all had YA ratings over 90 this season, most of them were balanced and around 95, and 2 of them still came out with some FAs in the 80s. The guy that turned 18 today was rated 94/95/96 and his lowest FA is 87. I was really relying on these youths to replace my aging midfield in a few seasons time

As far as I know, nothing has been changed recently.
I have also had more than one youth with similar ratings who promoted with disappointing atts, over quite some time. One of mine, for example, was a 94/94/94 who had a lowest FA of 81/82 plus other atts in the 80s. That's just one example but others have also mentioned similar in this thread.
Maybe, having more good youths since the academy update to 12 youths, results in more disappointing promotions than was the case previously.

Not sure about that. I had the opposite happen, a youth player in the high 80's who had FA's in the 90's when promoted.
One of my best rated defenders was also below 90 in the youth academy. Rare but it can happen.

After promotion his lowest FA is 81

Not so long ago, I also had a youth who, I think, finished at 7x but had all 80+ atts.
Overall, there seem to be good promotions and disappointing promotions. It's just a case of accepting the lows with the highs.
